Education: Spalding University

Favorite Scripture or Quote: 1 Corinthians 15:10 "By the grace of God, I am what I am."

Why I love teaching: I used to dream of being a teacher when I was a child. I would set up a pretend classroom in my bedroom and pass out papers to all my dolls. As the years went on, that dream faded and teaching became something out of reach in my mind. However, God had different plans for me. I feel he has led me to teach and it fills my heart with so much joy and excitement each time they are able to learn something new. What a wonderful thing I get to be a part of; helping to mold a young person into a wiser, mature, and caring person.

Grade Level: 1-2

Teacher: Jill Hill
Subject: Humanities, Math, Science & Electives
Education: Univeristy of Montevallo

Favorite Scripture or Quote: “The giant in front of you is never bigger than the God who lives in you.”

Why I love teaching: I love watching a smile stretch across the face of a child when they finally grasp a math concept.  Hearing the excitement in a little voice as they are summarizing a reading passage.  Discovering a confidence within themselves when they can diagram a sentence.  The many different colors a sky can be colored.  The enormous size of a child's faith in God.

Teacher: Angela Long
Subject: Humanities, Math, Science & Electives
Education: Auburn University
Favorite Scripture or Quote: Psalm 66:10-12

For you, O God, have tested us; you have tried us as silver is tried.  You brought us into the net; you laid a crushing burden on our backs; you let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water ; yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance.

Why I love teaching: As a child, I always wanted to be a teacher.  I saw first hand (as a student) that teaching is a way to make a huge impact on individuals.
